Abrasives: Letter symbols are used to identify three main groups of abrasives normally used in the grinding wheels.They are A for Aluminum Oxide, Cfor Silicon Carbide, Zfor Aluminum Zirconium, Prefix to these letters indicate some particular variations in these groups. Grain Size : Means strength of bonding of a grinding wheel : in other words hardness denoted by English Alphabets Starting from D (Softest) to Z (hardest). Very soft DFFG Soft HIJK Medium LMNO Hard PQRST Very hard UVWXYZ. Selecting of gift: Finer grit worse finish, softer material, light stock removal, uninterrupted surface and small contact area Coarser grit worse finish, softer material, heavy stock removal, form surface and larger contact area.
