Modular Power System

Modular Power Supply System (MPSS) is a single power supply system, which can deliver various DC voltages, i.e., 24 V, 48 V, 110 V, 220 V DC and AC voltage 230 V AC and 400 V AC with a common battery bank. There is no need to have multiple and separate DC systems, and UPS systems. The MPSS can be used for petrochemical and process industries, power generation and utilities, telecom application, railway integrated power supply systems, offshore platforms, etc. The MPSS consists of: SMR modules – for battery charging and supplying load, DC-DC converter modules – for supplying DC loads of different voltages, inverter modules – with optional static bypass switch for supplying single phase or three phase AC load, control and monitoring unit – for power supply management, battery management, remote monitoring and control through modems/industrial Ethernet, racks – for mounting power supply modules, connection to input, output and load distribution. The advantages are: modular system – simple to configure, flexible, easy to operate and maintain, easy to expand; single source system – with single DC source, one can achieve various DC voltages using DC-DC converter modules and AC voltages using inverter modules, in the same system; cost effective – high efficiencies result in low operating costs and “N+1 Module” concept for redundancy reduces total system cost; space saving – 70% less in volume and weight compared to the conventional systems; high power density with most compact possible space; less down time – hot swapping of modules without interrupting the over all system; superior performance – low starting current, low ripple (less than 20 mV peak to peak), better dynamic response (less than 1 ms), high power factor; intelligent system – automatic malfunction management, dynamic load shedding management, remote controls and monitoring via modems/industrial Ethernet. Maximum single system configuration is: DC supply – 24 V/8000 A, 48/5500 A, 110 V/2200 A and 220 V/1100 A, and AC supply – 60 kVA.
