Serial to Parallel Converter

PG Electronics offers Serial to Parallel Converter SPG 3. Absolute encoders with more than 12-bit output are either Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) compatible or with bus systems. The SSI output requires only 4 wires – 2 for clock and the other 2 for data. The 12-bit or even 24-bit serial data from single/multi-turn encoder is converted to parallel binary or gray code in the converter SPG 3, an interface unit that can be mounted close or even inside the PLC or control panel. This enables user to save large number of multi-core lengths otherwise required to transmit Data in parallel format. The SPG 3 interface unit features binary or gray output, selection of clock frequency depending on distance of the cable line – e.g., 50 or 400 metres, from encoder to the users panel board. Additional outputs of latch and F/R are provided. It is housed in metal housing, which can enable user to mount close or inside the control board. Suitable for input supply of 24 V DC, it also supplies power to the encoder. The SSI is 5 V, RS 422 compatible. As an option 8-core special shielded cable with twisted pairs is also available.
