COOLANT FILTRATION SYSTEMS

Miven Mayfran Conveyors offers Coolant Filtration Systems, C-Com. It is offered for machine tools. It employs an indexing filter drum made from finely woven mesh to filter the coolant. A drag (scraper) chain removes chips from inside of the unit. Separate float switches are provided to sense coolant level inside the unit. The unit comes with features such as scraper cleaning attachment and drip coolant catcher to enhance the performance. Working: contaminated coolant flows from the machine into the filter by gravity/ pump. Heavier chips that settle down are carried away by the drag chain. The floating fines are arrested on the outer surface of the drum and clean coolant flows out from drum sides into coolant tank. When the drum pores get closed due to accumulation of fines, the coolant level inside the unit starts rising. As the coolant reaches high level, the float switch actuates drum drive and the drum indexes till coolant returns to normal level. As the drum indexes, the drum surface gets cleaned by wiper and high-pressure coolant backwash. There is an additional float switch provided in the system to prevent overflow of coolant and to alert the operator about malfunctioning of the unit. The filter cake formed on the drum surface acts as secondary filter media. Features: compact unit; filter drum and drag chain driven independently ensuring reduced load on chain and hence low chance of breakage and system failure; chain run intermittently while drum only indexes, hence low chance of chain breakage due to excessive chip load; flexibility in chain and drum speeds; and ease in operation. Performance: coolant clarity up to 15 micron nominal is achievable.
