Lubricant For Open Gears & Rolling Bearings

Open gears driving winches and revolving offshore- and deck cranes are subject to high strains. Additionally, they have to be protected from harsh environmental impacts: aggressive salty air, spray water and extreme temperatures give rise to high demands regarding reliable wear- and corrosion protection. The lubricant used is a decisive factor in this context. It should be very adhesive, as it must neither drip down nor be washed off by seawater. Lubricants dripping off the gear teeth cannot provide a reliable lubricating film on the tooth flanks, which leads to increased wear and may cause gear failure, not to mention the fact that they cause contamination and increased lubricant requirement.
