Pulse Jet Bag Filter

Clair Engineers offers pulse jet bag filter, which is sized and designed for continuous operation over long periods with the minimum of attention. The filter is designed for on line cleaning or off line cleaning as required and on line maintenance is normally available.The unit consists of rows of circular filter bags suspended from a tube sheet, which separates the dirty and clean gas chambers within a compartment. Each bag has an internal wire cage, which supports the filter bag and prevents collapse. Dust laden flue gas enters the filter inlet manifold through the existing ductwork. Dust is collected on the outer surface of the filtration media allowing only clean gases to pass through and into the top section above the tube sheet and then on to the outlet ducting and stack. The dust is removed from the filter bags by pulses of compressed air. The cleaning is initiated by a differential pressure measurement when a predetermined level of resistance across the filter is obtained. During cleaning the dust falls into the hoppers to be taken away via the dust discharge system. When a filter is cleaned online, the direction of the gas flow in the compartment is important. The bag filter has gas flow, it is predominantly down along the bags. This minimizes the problem of re-entrainment. Dust laden gas enters the inlet duct from the process equipment and flows through the inlet damper into the individual compartments containing the filter bags. The gas velocity is lowered significantly in the gas distribution chamber, therefore a big part of the dust will drop out directly into the hopper reducing the dust burden on the filter bags. The direction in the gas distribution chamber is upward and baffle plates ensure a uniform flow across the distribution screen. The gas and the remaining dust will pass the screens and distribute over the entire bag area with the dominating gas velocity being down wards. This results in a significant decrease in the amount of pulse air required to clean the filter bags, thus achieving lower power consumption and extended bag life.
