Membrane Filtration

The need to separate smaller and smaller particles from each other within a flow stream is becoming increasingly important in process industries. Membrane filtration is the established solution to separate very small particles. Alfa Laval’s range of membranes covers four categories separating particles of different sizes from the feed liquid. The categories comprise: Reverse Osmosis, Nanofiltration, Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration. Separation plays an important role in a range of industrial processes. Extraction and treatment of crude oil; Treatment of industrial fluids; Dewatering of sludge in wastewater treatment plants; Cleaning of crankcase gases from truck and ship diesel engines; Processing of liquids in food, pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical processes; Treatment of fuel and lubricating oils in vessels and electric power plants are some of the areas of application.
