An engine needs an exact mixture of fuel and air in order to run,and all of the air enters the system first through the Airfilter. This catches the dirt and other particles in the air preventing them from entering the system and possibly damaging the engine. All the engines normaly require around 38000 to 57000 liters of air to be inducted into the engine for every 4 liters of fuel consumed.The exact volume of air will ofcourse depend on various Factors,including engine displacement, RPM, etc.
