Valve For Reciprocating Hydrogen Or Hydrogen Rich Compressors

Reciprocating hydrogen gas or hydrogen rich compressors are critical machines mainly in refineries and petrochemical industries. Further, hydrogen gas being lighter, it is difficult to seal. The leakage across the valves in compressor calls for frequent shut down of compressor and maintenance of the valves. Hoerbiger has designed/developed a valve for hydrogen application looking at customer's requirement of valve lift. The type of valve is CX. This valve has been proved across the globe successfully. Characteristics of CX valve for hydrogen application: robust sealing elements; extreme low lift; wide flow channels; best flow geometry to support low lift and wide channels; independent rings to withstand liquid slugs; robust springs designed for high dynamic loading; anti oil sticking design; moving elements made of impact resistant materials; self lubricating materials to avoid seat wear; and optimised kinematics to avoid micro-motion at ring/seat contact
