Auto-pneumatic safety valve prevents back flow of air or oil in the event of power failure when installed between backing pump and vacuum system. Closing member of the valve is a hollow cylinder open at one end and carries the valve seat on the outer face of its base. It slides in a piston type sleeve and forms a main cylinder in conjunction with it. Connection between cylinder and atmosphere is operated by an electromagnetic auxiliary valve.
