Shot Blasting Machine for Piston Rings

Surface International has developed dry and wet Shot Blasting Machine for Piston Rings. Dry blasting system consists of a blast cabinet with front door. Job is loaded inside the cabinet on motorised turntable from front door on a mandrel, which is clamped by a pneumatically operated clamping arrangement having a revolving centre. A vertical mechanical gun reciprocating arrangement is provided on top of blasting cabinet having TC nozzles mounted suction blasting guns to achieve uniform finish on piston rings. The machine is provided with flow control valve for each gun to ensure alarm generation, if any gun chokes. It is equipped with sensors and safeguards to ensure stoppage in the event of any abnormal occurrence during operation. Level control sensor is provided in abrasive storage hopper to check abrasive level and a temperature controlled heating system is provided to keep the abrasive easily flow-able. The machine is controlled by a PLC and touch screen HMI, programmed with different menu for easy and faster selection of the desired programme. A tower light indicates readiness, operation and fault position of the machine from a distance and also gives indication of cycle completion. The company had also developed a 4-nozzle operated wet blasting machine for finer blasting of piston rings. This machine has slurry pump to propel abrasive slurry on piston rings. These machines are useful for mass production of piston rings and similar components.
