Coating of Feedscrews for Injection Moulding & Extrusion Equipment

Extreme Feedscrew Coatings Pvt Ltd is a wear resistance company that specialises in Coating Plastics Processing Feedscrews for injection moulding and extrusion equipment. The company’s specialty is high quality tungsten carbide coating with super mirror finish. This is the Extreme Coatings™ process of Surface Engineering & Alloy Company (USA) that utilises emerging thermal spray technologies to apply extremely wear resistant and/or corrosion resistant protective coatings to virtually any size injection moulding or extrusion feed screw. The process provides crack free coatings with hardness values ranging from 30- 70 on the Rc scale in thickness’ from .001”-.030”. Proprietary compositions of various carbides, ceramics, and alloys are incorporated to achieve abrasion and corrosion resistant characteristics unmatched by any of the conventional hardfacing alloys popular today. This process completely eliminates the necessity for chrome plating, flame hardening, or nitriding, as the entire screw surface is coated, including the root, flight sides and flight lands. The company offers a variety of root and flight side surface finishes ranging from ±140 RMS to our 16-32 RMS finish, which rivals chrome plating in appearance. It also finish grinds to dimension and have the capability to strip coated screws for rebuild when worn. The coatings are excellent for screws exposed to filled resins, rubbers, or other abrasive compounds. Additionally, corrosion resistant coatings are available eliminating the need to fabricate components from costly raw materials. Furthermore, the process requires no preheat or post heat procedures and during application, components rarely exceed 350° F. The low heat input helps prevent distortion, minimising costly straightening or machining time. Preparation for screw coating requires rebuilding or manufacturing to predetermined dimensions based on coating thickness desired. Other applications where this process can be used include turbine components, bushings, shafting, mixer blades, chutes, fan blades, conveyors, slurry pumps, and many other applications where extreme conditions of wear or corrosion exist.
