Enerpac has launched the lightweight Enerpac XC Cordless Pump for safer handling when onion jack stressing steel strand cables in concrete structures. Weighing only 10 kg, compared with conventional power concrete stressing pumps at over 30 kg, it significantly reduces the risks to operators associated with lifting and trip hazards whilst forming onions. Onion jack stressing is common in multi-story or slab construction where access is inhibited by beams or other obstructions. In such cases, worksite personnel cannot use stressing cables’ standard live end and dead ends. By applying hydraulic force to the clamped end of braided steel stressing strands an onion shape is formed that can then be fixed and concreted into place within the concrete structure, creating an anchor point to stress from. The XC pump is designed to provide a long-lasting pump that can be used in hard-to-access and remote areas; the pump’s construction utilises lightweight materials to ensure mobility while the powerful, one-half horsepower motor and 28-volt, Lithium-Ion battery technology deliver the speed, power and longevity of a corded pump. The Enerpac onion jacking method can also be used where a strand blow-out has occurred and requires rework to the strand. With its bladder reservoir, Enerpac’s XC cordless pump eliminates venting and provides leak-free operation in any orientation. Additionally, the overall body, handle and trigger have been ergonomically engineered to maximize ease-of-use and portability.
