Mechanical Seals

Classic Chemical Seals manufactures mechanical seats for all chemical applications. Single spring and multispring designs are available in a variety of materials suitable for handling any liquid. Chemical applications require carbon to operate against ceramic, tungsten carbide, silicon carbide and stellite coated rings. The springs, retainers and other metal parts usually are made of SS. Silicone, Viton, Neoprene and PTFE elastomers are used for secondary sealing elements depending on the application. Seal surface mating faces are lapped on a specially developed lapping machine to generate mating ring and stationary ring surface to flatness, and a surface finish standard that ensures the maintenance of an essential lubricating film. Flatness to millionth of an inch is measured by optical light bands tester. The mechanical seal is used in all rotary equipment such as chemical pumps, agitators, compressors, and blenders.
