Two-Dimensional Pantograph Engraving Machines

GMC's 2D-Tracer, Model PS165, is suitable for all types of surface engraving and for light milling work on metals, plastics, etc, and for engraving letters and figures by copying from templates fixed on the template table. It can also be used in tool rooms and moulding shops for identifying the items either by engraving or etching with the help of an electric etching attachment supplied as a special accessory. The machine and its everwidening applications in different industries do not lie only in engraving of letters, graduations, figures, and decorative designs; with the operator's skill, it could well be adapted for making dies and punches. The copying is based on the principle of two dimensional pantograph and is accomplished by the hand traversing of the tracer along with the template contours. The machine is essentially knee type, sturdy in construction yet very sensitive in its movement to give perfect reproduction in the ratios selected. Drive to the cutter spindle is provided by endless round nylon belts from 1/3 HP 50 cys 400/440 V 3-phase motor or 1/2 HP single-phase 200/220 V motor, in its provision to select any of the four speeds required. The cutter is fixed to its spindle by a collet and can be lowered or retracted rapidly by a lever on the spindle. For finer feeds, a provision with 0.05 mm graduations has been made. The work table can be moved in all three directions and is provided with graduated collars of 0.05 mm graduations.
