Modern Vacuum Heat Treatment Facility

ADVAC Heat Treaters has put up a state-of-the-art, job work vacuum heat treatment facility for vacuum hardening of tool and die steels. The facility is equipped with a brand new, fully automatic PLC and computer controlled vacuum furnace designed and built with technical know-how from COFI S.p.a., Italy. The furnace is equipped with double heat exchangers and rapid turbo quench facility (quench fan motor is 100 HP, 3000 RPM) for the fastest quenching rate so that the desired hardness is attained right up to the core and not just at the surface. The speed of the quench fan motor is controlled with a variable speed frequency converter drive so that the rate of cooling can be controlled (isothermal quenching) to control the distortion of complex moulds and impart the best metallurgical grain structure in the steel. The dimension of the furnace is 650 W x 450 H x 900 D and the batch capacity is 500 kg max. In addition to this, the unit is equipped with vacuum/inert gas atmosphere tempering furnace of a very high degree of temperature uniformity of ±3ºC. The unit also has a captive diesel generator for un-interrupted operation of the furnace so that the die/tool is not spoilt in the event of a power failure in the midst of the heat treatment process. Expensive dies, tools and moulds deserve the best heat treatment process and meeting the required hardness at the surface is not the only yardstick for measurement of quality of heat treatment.
