Metallic Drum Heaters

Thermo Drum Heaters manufactured by Thermosystems are used for melting contents of 200-litre drums. They comprise of two semi-cylindrical sections hinged together and mounted on castor wheels. The two semi-cylindrical sections comprise an inner layer of fibreglass fabric onto which flexible heating elements are evenly distributed. These generate the heat required to melt the drum contents.They are backed by a 2"thermal insulation of glass-wool which minimises the heat losses to the atmosphere. A final outer metallic casing makes the heating unit rugged. Castor wheels facilitate movement and adjustable clamps enable a snug fit of the heater on the drum. A base heater also encapsulated in metal, provides bottom heating. The standard temperature control panel consists of 50-300?C thermostat with switch fuses, socket contactor, etc. Special panels can be designed in case of specific requirements. These drum heaters are available with heat load of 4.5-and 6 kW and are suitable for handling of viscous and solidified materials such as tar, varnish, bitumen, paints, fats, glucose, waxes, asphalt, phenol, gelatine, grease and heavy oils.
