Infrared Heating Systems for Expansion Shrink Fit

Litel Infrared Systems Pvt Ltd, an ISO 9001: 2000 company, offers Infrared (IR) Heating Systems for expansion shrink fit operation in auto industry. Expansion shrink fit is a widely used heating application in the automobile industry. Out of two components, which have an interference fit, the outer one is expanded, by heating, just enough to let the inner one slide in which then becomes a tight fit after cooling. The company has developed and successfully installed more than 15 such machines for many auto majors. The advantages of Litel IR heating systems are: localised heating – ensures that only the portion to be expanded is heated and other portions are not heated to the same extent; short time cycle – typically 60 to 120 sec, leading to a compact size of the machine; just-in-time operation – the IR system turns on only after the object enters the infrared zone; there is absolutely no heat up/cool down time required, leading to power savings, consequently, zero inventory of hot parts is ensured; automation: the conveyors are specially developed for this purpose and the entire unit including conveyor and IR zone is PLC controlled; it can be effective both as a stand alone machine or a machine synchronised with other conveyors (upstream and downstream) through PLC; environmentally friendly – infrared is the latest technology and is absolutely clean to operate. Typical operations handled are: expansion of cylinder head bores for fitting valve seats; expansion of piston bores for fitting gudgeon pins; expansion of small end bore of connecting rods for fitting bearings; and expansion of gears for fitting them on shafts, etc.
