Fluidtherm Technology offers fluidised bed furnaces for the efficient carburising of gudgeon pins. Capable of maintaining precise carbon potentials, these furnaces employ short cycle times as compared to other conventional furnaces, and produce consistent case depths. The ability of the furnace to maintain absolutely neutral atmospheres during the diffusion cycle avoids the problem of decarburisation or excessive retained austenite. A uniform temperature across the entire bed helps in minimizing distortion. Precisely engineered process cycles produce an extremely hard and wear resistant case with a very good resistance to shock. Furthermore, quick heat up and cool down times, reduced power consumption and absence of any kind of toxic effluents provide for an economic, efficient and non-polluting method of heat treatment. The energy efficiency of these plants qualifies them for 100% depreciation.
