The feed is dispersed in the carrying gas, thereby creating a large surface area enabling extremely high heat and mass transfer rates. Advantages: relatively lower investment cost; low maintenance cost; short residence time prevents decomposition of heat sensitive materials; and product recovery and size reduction can be carried out simultaneously with drying.
