Cartridge Heaters

For uniform and optimum heating of moulds and cavities related to particular application with long life of the heater, Pratik Heat Products offers precision-built cartridge heaters, with or without thermocouple. The heaters are used for plastic extruders, hot runner moulds, hot stamping, medical equipment, packaging equipment, moulds and pipes, shoe machinery, and food processing units. They can be supplied in different sheath materials like brass/Incoloy/SS. The element is made of Nichome resistance wire and is compacted in the tube with MGO powder. The terminals are made out of pure nickel. The heaters are made in different diameters, viz, 9.5, 12.5,15.8, and 18.8 mm. The length can vary from 50 mm to 300 mm and more with wattage up to 1800 watts and above. The selection of correct watt/in2 (density) depends on the fitment dimensions and tolerances. Cartridge heaters that are inserted in bored holes or grooves in platens require special consideration. There is a direct corelation between the clearances of element sheath, the bore diameter of the part being heated up and the operating temperature. Large clearances require the watt density to be substantially reduced for reasonable life. Special design charts are available with Pratik for these applications.
