Pinion Gearboxes For Steel Mills

UGI Engineering Works Private Limited has expertise in manufacturing high quality Pinion Gearboxes specially suitable for hot steel rolling mills. Input shaft is of right quality forged alloy steel (EN-24) ultrasonically tested. Bearing journal is properly ground. The gear wheel is also made out of forged alloy steel (EN-19) ultrasonically tested. Gear teeth are generated on hobbing machines. The housing is fabricated, duly stress relieved and properly machined with boring operation done on horizontal boring machines. The company uses SKF/FAG/NTN make bearings. Transparent window is provided on top to observe oil splashing for teeth lubrication of gears. Air breather is also provided for purpose equalisation. Oil seals of very good quality are also provided at input and output ends of shafts to prevent leakages of oil, which is a normal phenomenon in gearboxes. These are available in capacity: up to 5000 HP, and speed from 50 to 2000 RPM. It has a technical collaboration with Sead Steel, Turkey to manufacture rolling mill to produce 5,00,000 tonnes per annum. The technology used is "Slit Rolling" which is a proven in European countries and a new concept in India, The technical collaboration includes technical backup for manufacturing, erection and commission and achieving target production of the designed mill.
