Ascon worm reduction gearboxes are available in various ratios of ranging 5: 1 to 4900: 1 and centre distance between 28 to 425 mm. The worm is made from high tensile case hardened alloy steel integral with shaft and hardened and ground finished to precision limits. Worm wheel is made out of phosphor bronze and having CI hub and is generated on imported hobbing machine. Gear casing is made of closed grain cast iron with liberal cooling fins on both sides and precision bored to ensure accurate alignment. Bearings are of large capacity on worms and wheel shafts to accommodate radical and thrust loads produced by meshing gear sets and overhung loads.
