P A Pinions, an ISO 9001-2008 certified company, specialises in turning/milling of micro components using CNC and cam type Swiss sliding headstock machines. Complex milling operations, both front and back, can be performed in single set-up. Gear Hobbing of Spur Gears from modules 0.05 mm to 0.7 mm in steel and brass with accuracy up to DIN 7 are undertaken. Finishing operations of hardening (stainless steel and steel), polishing and centerless grinding are also done to give ready to assemble parts. Tool room microscopes and profile projectors are used for most measurement requirements. In addition there is the facility of a video measuring system for complex measurements. Surface roughness measurements, hardness testing are also performed in-house. For gear testing there is a double flank gear testing machine to give total composite error readings. The company was started in 1963 to make watch parts primarily for the repair of mechanical watches. Gradually gear hobbing and press operations were started and by 1975 pinions was supplying the full array of parts like assembled wheels, winding stems, clicks and other parts that a watch repairer requires. After 1980, it started making pointer shafts for dashboard indicators of the automotive industry and continues to do so till today. Today, it also makes gears for the micromotor industry and more recently turn-mill parts for the dental instrument industry. Support operations through sister companies include facilities of micro injection moulding, watch movement manufacture, sheet metal work, electroplating and the support of a sophisticated tool room with a wide array of Swiss machines suitable for making most injection moulds and sheet metal progressive tools.
