Precise Controls offers Stat Brake, used to stop 3-phase AC induction motor. When the motor's power supply is switched off, it keeps on rotating because of inertia. During this period DC current is injected into the stator. It develops stationary magnetic filed in the stator and the motor comes to a stop. The motor never rotates in reverse direction during braking. The braking time and torque are adjustable by presets. The unit is solid-state, comprising of SCR/diode, isolated power devices and their protection circuits. There are no moving parts hence no friction circuits. Retrofitting on existing machine is easy since it does not require any modifications on the machine like extension of motor shaft, space on machine, extra cabling, etc. It is available for use on motors up to 200 HP.
