Bore Gauges

Bore Gauges

The L S Starrett Company has introduced two new bore gauge series, 89 and 789, both offering superior reliability and con-venience for making close-tolerance inside diameter measurements. The dial models (Series 89) and the electronic model (789) fea-ture a probe depth up to a full 12 inches (300 mm) for deep hole measuring and are fully insulated the entire probe length. In addition, a rugged, lightweight cast-aluminum shroud on both models surrounds and protects the indicator, offering greater protection and durability for shop use. Both of these features are unavailable in competitive models. Plus, model 789, with electronic display, features a base resolution of 0.00005"and also has the ability to readout to 0.0001 ", 0.00025", 0.0005"and 0.001 "via a unique multiple resolution feature. The elec-tronic model also offers inch-to-metric conversion, pre-set mode at any point in the display for installing and maintaining a reading, plus or minus travel direction, max or min reading hold, zero at any position, and more. The large, high-contrast LCD digital display is easy to read and reduces errors. The electron-ic model also gives the user the ability to obtain statistical process control (SPC) analysis and hard copy documentation via an output port and cable. The gauge will output to Starrett 772 data collection systems, 761 data multiplexers, direct-to-RS232 seri-al-BCD and MTI. Series 89 dial face models feature 0.0001"and 0.0005"inch graduation or 0.01 mm and 0.002 mm graduations and have jewel bearings for added sensitivity. Both gauge series include carbide contact points to ensure extended wear life and provide a measuring range from 2 to 6 inches (50-150 mm). They are furnished complete with contacts, extension, spacers, and protective case.
