Germany's Barnes Molding Solutions Opens $30 Mn Greenfield Facility in Pune

Germany headquartered Barnes Molding Solutions - with its brands Männer, Foboha, Synventive, Thermoplay, Gammaflux and Priamus - has inaugurated a new greenfield manufacturing facility in India at Chakan, Pune, marking a significant expansion of its global production and service footprint. The facility, officially opened on 20 January 2026, is a key element of the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen competitiveness in hot runner systems and injection moulding technologies.

India is among the fastest-growing markets for injection moulding applications, and the new site brings Barnes Molding Solutions closer to customers while reducing lead times and enhancing service responsiveness. The company estimates the Indian addressable market for hot runner systems at around USD 200 million, where it currently holds a 15–20 per cent market share.

The Chakan facility supports a local-for-local manufacturing strategy, reducing dependence on supplies from China. It will serve the Indian market as well as other Asian regions, including Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea, positioning India as the company’s primary manufacturing and service hub for Asia, excluding China.

“India is one of our most important growth markets worldwide. With this new facility, we are creating the conditions for shorter lead times, greater flexibility, and even closer technical collaboration with our customers in the region while maintaining our global standards,” said Marcello Vendemiati, President, Barnes Molding Solutions.

The 16,000-sq-m site houses comprehensive hot runner capabilities, including design engineering, mould flow analysis, system assembly, quality management and after-sales services. Initially, around 50 per cent of the company’s product portfolio will be manufactured locally, with plans to scale to full coverage as demand grows.

Barnes Molding Solutions has invested approximately $ 30 million in the facility so far, with total investment expected to reach $ 50 million as operations expand. Staffing is projected to grow to around 220 employees by the end of 2026, supported by strong customer interest following the inauguration.
