Tata Motors has entered into an arrangement with Microlise, an European telematics and feelt management solutions provider, to come out with the most modern global fleet telematics solutions in India. The agrrangement spanning over five years to start with, is structured such that the two partners will pool their domain knowledge to engineer fleet management solution and services through the Tata Fleetman platform. Microlise will provide the technology and solutions (the new solutions will be based on the market leading Microlise platform that is currently installed in over 150,000 vehicles around the world and used by some of the biggest transport and logistics companies like DHL, Tesco and Carrefour for significant cost savings and efficiency improvements) whereas Tata Motors will integrate them in its commercial vehicles. Tata Motors is also expected to utilise its reach for service delivery of the fleet management solutions. The services, according to sources close to Tata Motors, will be marketed through original equipment fitment as well as through the aftermarket route. Tata Motors launched the Tata Fleetman Telematics and Fleet Management services brand in India two years ago, in response to growing market needs for better fleet control and greater fleet utilisation. The deal was assisted by government department UK Trade & Investment which supported Microlise.
