Indore-based, Radiant Thermal Engineers is manufacturer and supplier for boilers and heat exchangers for industrial applications. Kamlesh Rathore and Sanjay Sharma, Directors, Radiant Thermal Engineers are in this interview sharing about their product development and growth strategies for coming years.

Kindly brief us about your company.
We are a steam boiler manufacturing company. Established in the year 2000 and based in Indore. We fabricate boilers and its accessories required for steam generation and distribution in a plant requiring process heating. Dairies, foods, confectioneries, chemicals, textiles, oils plants are our main customers. We are able to manufacture about 10 to 12 boilers with accessories in a year. The legal inspections and approvals by the department of IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) are done through the directorate of boilers Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal regularly.

How do you analyse the performance of your company in 2021-22 compared to 2020-21? Are you seeing a pick-up in demand? What is driving the market?
We are performing very well this year as the plant installations are growing and picking up fast. The demand for all the commodities is on the rise and government support for new plants is very helpful.

What were the key learning for you because of the Covid pandemic? What changes have been brought about in your company and in the industry due to the Covid pandemic?

In any pandemic or natural disaster, the updated industries always fare better and this learning is applicable everywhere leave alone this pandemic. Fast adaptation of technological advancements especially in the field of information and communication is the best learning one had so far. We made compulsory implementation of all the necessary rules and regulations released by the administration from time to time pertaining to health and safety.

How is the demand for your products and solutions? What makes them unique from those of the competitors?
The demand for our product is at an all-time high as we fall in the product category of energy equipments. The generation and better distribution of energy become a matter of prime importance in emergency situations like this. And as we anticipated and were ready to meet the requirements of the market we got an edge over our competitors.

Which new products or solutions have you introduced in the market in the last 2 years?
Our every product comes up with some updation or modification in earlier designs. In this way, we always come up with a new product which is more user-friendly.

Did you develop or launched any new products during the Covid pandemic?
We did make some sanitizer dispensers for our in-house use and installation.

What are the key challenges faced by your customers today? How is your company helping them overcome these challenges?
The cost of steam is the biggest challenge being faced by our customers. We design and develop boilers and other systems which reduce this cost and eventually help in reducing the cost of their final product being made with the use of steam generated by our boiler.

What are the emerging trends in your industry?
Cogeneration which is the generation of power along with steam is emerging as a new trend in lower capacities of boiler users.

In the last one and half years, the government has announced a number of initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat, PLI scheme, re-definition of MSMEs, etc. Do you think these initiatives will benefit the industry?
They are benefitting too much for the industries. This is a major support by the government which has kept industries and the economy in control and in a better position.

Automation is a buzzword today. How is your company adopting automation?
Automations are always welcome in our products being energy equipment with safety as an added quality.

What kind of new opportunities are you looking to tap into the market?
Power generation boilers will be added to our product line for better share and profitability.

What are your short and long-term growth plans for your company?
We are planning for a bigger manufacturing facility to increase product quantity and sizes.
