 Praj Industries promoter donates Rs 2.51 Crore to IIT Bombay

Pune, India, December 30, 2016: Mr Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman of Praj Industries, a global process solutions company, in his personal capacity donated Rs 2.51 crore to Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) to set up The Centre for Learning and Teaching. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between Mr Pramod Chaudhari and IIT Bombay on 26th December 2016.

Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Centre for Learning and Teaching will promote and support advanced technical education system in the country. It will also provide support to instructors at all levels, from new faculty members to experts. It will also work with doctoral students, teaching assistants for under-graduate and post-graduate courses, as well as students of the institute.

Speaking on this development, Mr Pramod Chaudhari, said: “IIT Bombay is largely responsible for what I am today and what I have achieved. I have learned my early lessons of engineering and entrepreneurship at IITB. I am happy to collaborate with my alma mater to set-up this Learning and Teaching Centre aimed at fostering innovation, evidence-based practices and collaboration among students.”

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Devang Khakhar, Director of IIT Bombay, said: “Today, IIT Bombay is the leading academic Institution in the field of research and development. IIT Bombay alumni have made significant contributions towards the growth of the Institute. Our aspiration is to see IIT Bombay among the top ranks of technical universities in the world. We need continued support from our alumni to realize this dream.”
