As one-stop solution provider for all power transmission equipment in the material handling industry, Insu Tech Corporation is witnessing an upsurge in demand as economic activities pick-up. In this interview, Suchit Shah, Partner, Insu Tech Corporation, highlight on effect of Covid on the industry and the company's newly developed products.

Kindly brief us about your company
For more than four decades, we are manufacturing an array of products for power transmission system in the material handling sector such as drag chain system (Polymide/Metallic), DSL system (shrouded/angle/rail/copper head rail), festoon system, rail fixtures, and spring buffers to name a few.

Are you seeing a pick-up in demand in 2021? What is driving the market?
The market has definitely improved post 2020-21 and is seeing an uptrend. The driving force is perhaps the overall improvement in project execution, which had been stalled since the last one year due to on-going pandemic.

What changes have been brought about in your company and in the industry due to Covid?
The biggest learning is perhaps you can operate remotely and moreover with limited workforce you can get more efficiency.

How is the demand for your products & solutions? What makes them unique from those of the competitors?
The demand for our products has increased and we are a ‘One-Stop Solution’ for all power transmission equipment in the material handling industry. As a result, we have a solution which would fit the requirements for any application in the material handling sector.

Which new products & solution have you introduced in the market in the last 2 years Are there any plans to launch new products in the near future?
We have added one new product and enhanced the capacity for the second one. We added Enclosed DSL - Powerline System, which almost all our competitors import from China. We are perhaps the only company to manufacture it in India.

The second is Copper Head DSL System. Again, we are the only company in India to have a facility which manufactures them, while all our competitors either import them from China or Germany.

Have you developed or launched any new products & solutions during the Covid pandemic?
Yes, we launched them post-Covid as we saw a need for those products to be made in India with less dependence on global markets. The same has worked in our favour, as our clients have welcomed it with open hands.

What are the key challenges faced by your customers today? How is your company helping them overcome these challenges?
Today post Covid unfortunately the gap between companies having work and companies having no work has widened drastically. As a result, many of our customers get lured with a spun-off product and only after using it for a few months, they realised unfortunately that it did not work efficiently with their systems. Hence as customers, sticking to your fundamental ethos is a challenge in these testing times when everyone wants to cut costs.

In the last one and half years, the government has announced a number of initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat, PLI scheme, re-definition of MSMEs, etc. Do you think these initiatives will benefit the industry?
Aatmanirbhar Bharat is something people have welcomed with open hands and for many the dependence on global market has reduced. Definitely, there is a long way to go until we become completely Aatmanirbhar but India has surely taken its first few steps towards it.
