HP India is set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, to manufacture laptops, desktops, and all-in-one PCs under the PLI 2.0 scheme in India. The production will take place at Padget's new facility in Oragadam, Chennai.

This facility, spanning 300,000 square feet, is expected to generate 1,500 direct jobs and will have the capacity to produce 2 million units annually at full scale. The initiative aligns with India's Make in India campaign, furthering domestic production of IT hardware.

Ipsita Dasgupta, Managing Director, HP India, highlighted the company’s commitment to expanding its portfolio of domestically manufactured products. Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman, Dixon Technologies expressed confidence in the collaboration, stating that the partnership would leverage HP’s technological expertise and Dixon's manufacturing prowess to bring high-quality HP products to Indian consumers.

The Oragadam facility is being developed under the IT Hardware PLI 2.0 scheme, aimed at boosting local manufacturing of IT products in the country.
