Godrej Electricals & Electronics (E&E) – a strategic business unit (SBU) of Godrej & Boyce (the flagship company of the Godrej Group) - aims to strengthen India’s infrastructure development vision through the execution of substantial projects by its Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineering (MEP) business. They were recently awarded their largest data center project for MEP works in South India by a multinational conglomerate.

With the Indian government declaring the whole ecosystem of 5G networks and the finance minister providing infrastructure status to the data center industry in the Union Budget, the rapid shift to a digital economy is intensifying. With urbanisation and digitization being a mega trend driving India's economic growth, Godrej E&E’s line of business, MEP has bagged key commercial, infrastructure, data center and e-commerce projects worth over Rs 600 crore being under execution. This is a testament to the business’ expertise in the area. The business looks forward to continuing to provide services to this rapidly expanding data centre segment, which is forecast to double up in the next 2-3 years.

The PM Gati Shakti plan has given a new direction to the development of infrastructure in India by encouraging public-private partnerships in modern infrastructure creation from planning to the development and utilisation stage. Godrej Electricals and Electronics has contributed to this vision of the government by collaborating on large-scale public infrastructure projects including the International Airport and Metro Rail Projects across the country.

Pravin Rawool, AVP & Head – MEP Business, Godrej Electricals & Electronics, commented, “MEP services are crucial to any infrastructure’s functionality making them the backbone of development. It has always been Godrej & Boyce’s vision to contribute to India’s overall infrastructure development and uplift the nation’s economy. With the support of the Central and State governments, we see enormous opportunities for growth in the groundwork of India. MEP has contributed to prominent large utility projects across public infrastructure, commercial, as well as urban developments. The Data Center Industry is also one of the most lucrative and fastest-growing industries in India. With the 5G boom and the Government's push to the data centre segment, we project the industry to drive further demand for global investments. MEP will continue to collaborate with Indian and international partners to deliver the best Electromechanical services to operate with efficiency and safety.”

In order to improve value propositions, Godrej Electricals and Electronics’ MEP vertical encourages its clients to use low carbon intensive technology in their projects. For energy-efficient HVAC applications, the business recommends energy-efficient pumps, displacement ventilation, and integrated building management systems to ensure sustainable infrastructure empowerment in India. The majority of MEP's executed projects have received certification for green and sustainable built environments from various authorities, including IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, and WELL.

Mechanical, Electrical, Firefighting & Plumbing (MEP) services form a significant element of any building and infrastructure making the concrete structure functional. MEP undertakes orders for projects across segments such as data centres, commercial, warehousing & ecommerce, airport & metros, industrial, retail, healthcare & hospitality. With the market doubling up and increasing penetration, the sector is predicted to grow at a rate of 2X by FY24.
