Godrej & Boyce boosts the energy sector by commissioning Mumbai's First 400kV GIS Substation

As cities grow and industries expand, the demand for reliable and sustainable energy is more pressing than ever. Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group announced that its business Godrej Electricals & Electronics, is focusing on contributing to India’s growing modern power infrastructure. The business has completed projects ranging from 132kV to 765kV and their current order bank stands at over 1700Cr in the substation segment.

The business commissioned eight substations in FY24, including the prestigious 400kV GIS vertical substation in Mumbai. This project adds a substantial 1500MVA to the city's energy capacity, addressing the escalating demand for power. By providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy infrastructure in metro cities, challenging terrains of North East states & Jammu, and regional hubs like Khavda in Gujarat. Godrej Electricals & Electronics is shaping the future of high-capacity, cutting-edge substation projects while addressing the power challenges of the country.

Raghavendra Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head, Godrej Electricals & Electronics said, “With a commitment to reliability and sustainability, our strides in the substation sector signify not just a business success but a vital contribution to India's energy resilience. As we install Mumbai's first 400kV GIS Substation, adding 1500MVA capacity for the city, we are not merely building substations; we are laying the foundation for a future where energy is both abundant and green. We envision a landscape where cutting-edge technology meets the growing energy demands, fostering a brighter and more sustainable tomorrow for India.”

Earlier this month, Godrej & Boyce released a statement on the budget echoing the sentiments of the government on focussing on sustainability through capacity enhancements in renewable energy among other measures. Godrej Electricals & Electronics is partnering with private sector players to engage in diverse substation and renewable energy projects across India.
