Danfoss fortifies India presence, celebrates 90th Anniversary

Danfoss, a global leader in climate and energy solutions, is taking a significant step to strengthen its presence in India as it coincides with the 90th anniversary of the parent company. This momentous occasion sees the expansion of their Distribution Centre, a state-of-the-art facility spanning 43,000 square feet with 4000 pallet positions, equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure tailored to support Danfoss India's growing business operations. Located in close proximity to the Danfoss Chennai factory in the Oragadam SIPCOT industrial area, the inauguration of this new facility was led by Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India Region, with the presence of Amit Dawar, VP of DHL Supply Chain, members of the Danfoss India Management Team including Madhur Sehgal, Muralidar VS, Uma Shankar Rajendran, and Ranjith Raman, along with representatives from DHL Supply Chain, dignitaries, and employees.

Danfoss India envisions doubling its revenue by 2025, currently experiencing robust double-digit growth at a compounded annual rate (CAGR) of 18-20%. The expansion of the distribution centre will open up space within Danfoss' Chennai Factory for further manufacturing operations expansion. This centre will serve as a hub for Danfoss products from Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Denmark, primarily focusing on core businesses such as Power Electronics & Drives and Climate Solutions. It will supply products not only to customers in India but also to neighbouring countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka.

Celebrating its 90th anniversary worldwide, Danfoss has planned events across its subsidiaries in more than 120 countries. These events convey the message that Danfoss' solutions are driving growth in the economy while addressing sustainability and technological challenges in urbanisation, food security, electrification, digitalisation, and climate change. Danfoss is increasingly seen by customers across the value chain as their preferred sustainability partner.

During the celebration, Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India Region, stated, "We are proud to celebrate Danfoss' 90-year legacy, offering one of the world's most extensive and relevant portfolios of solutions that accelerate the decarbonisation agenda for our customers. Given our ambitious growth plans, expanding Danfoss India's distribution centre footprint will provide unmatched value to our customers and stakeholders."

Furthermore, Danfoss has introduced a green fleet of low-load containers in partnership with GATI, one of their logistics partners. This initiative aligns with Danfoss' climate commitment to offset emissions from the upstream/downstream supply chain by 2030 and supports the E-FAST INDIA initiative by NITI Aayog, WRI, and WBCSD, aiming to accelerate the adoption of Zero Emissions Transport (ZET) in India.

The new vehicle was inaugurated at the Oragadam campus by Muralidar V S, Head of Global Services, Asia Pacific at Danfoss, V Rajesh Gowrinath, Senior VP of Customer Experience, Pradeep Kumar Jaganathan, Director of API Logistics Operations, and Anju Mary Kuruvilla, Director of Industry Affairs, Corp Com, CSR & Sustainability, in the presence of dignitaries, senior leadership, and employees from both Danfoss and GATI.

Pirojshaw (Phil) Sarkari, CEO and MD of Gati Express and Supply Chain Pvt. Ltd., commented on the association, saying, "We are continually expanding the use of alternative fuel vehicles to enhance environmental sustainability in our operations and support the government and our customers in reducing the carbon footprint. We have been partnering with Danfoss for over two decades now, and our shared ambition offers us a significant opportunity to accelerate sustainable mobility and green distribution service facilitation in the nation. In line with Danfoss' climate commitments, we are delighted to collaborate to offset emissions from upstream/downstream supply chains, starting with the conversion of all our pickup and delivery vehicles for Danfoss to alternative fuels."
