Tekomar XPERT, a subscription-based smart web solution is available through ABB Ability.

The usage of Tekomar XPERT spans across any marine main and auxiliary engine, irrespective of manufacturer, type, age or size. The software does not require any hardware installation and the application can be dropped into the shipping company’s regular IT system and is accessible via PCs, tablets and mobiles. More than 1,400 vessels globally have been equipped with Tekomar XPERT to-date.

Today, integrated digital technologies for fleet management are gaining traction as Indian marine operators are adopting this technology. Once installed on every vessel in a fleet, Tekomar XPERT can quantify deviations in engine performance and provide simple guidance to run engines at optimum-level efficiency. The software also recommends corrective actions for realising of potential fuel oil savings.

Deviations from actual service performance to shop trial reference are converted to a fuel penalty. This fuel penalty is broken down in reference to single parameters. For each parameter, there is a recommended action to bring back the performance to optimum and realise the fuel oil saving.  Following the advice provided by the software, results in significant fuel savings of typically 0.5 to 3 tonne of fuel per day, per vessel.

This kind of advanced diagnostics, combined with sharing the information with onshore office, allows ship operators to immediately focus on fixing potential problems, rather than spending many hours analysing them.
