Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has established a new business division, Wipro Electronic Materials, to manufacture high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). This investment represents a major step towards building a resilient and innovation-driven electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India, supporting high-growth industries such as telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer devices, industrial systems, and AI infrastructure.

The new facility, based in Karnataka, will commence production in 2026. With an investment of about Rs 5 billion, the plant will produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates and associated prepreg materials, generating roughly 350 jobs. This milestone positions Wipro Infrastructure Engineering as a key contributor to India’s self-reliance in electronics manufacturing.

Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering and MD of Wipro Enterprises, said: “Wipro Electronic Materials represents a landmark investment in India’s electronics manufacturing sector, made possible through the timely support of the Government of Karnataka and MeitY. This state-of-the-art CCL facility reflects our vision to build future-ready capabilities and enhance India’s role in the global electronics technology ecosystem. By providing local manufacturers with reliable, high-quality materials, we are strengthening supply chain resilience and global competitiveness.”

Neeraj Pandita, Founder and Co-CEO of Wipro Electronic Materials, said: “The electronics manufacturing industry faces a critical supply chain challenge, as 100% of copper-clad laminates are currently imported. Wipro Electronic Materials will bridge this gap by producing world-class base materials in India. This will help serve key industries such as telecom, automotive, consumer electronics, and AI while positioning Wipro as a trusted partner for global OEMs.”

Tarun Amla, Founder and Co-CEO of Wipro Electronic Materials, added: “This first-of-its-kind facility is designed to drive large-scale innovation with strong capabilities in resin formulation, process engineering, and product design. We are building a dedicated R&D ecosystem to develop proprietary technologies, generate IP, and create high-performance materials for next-generation electronics.”
