Tamil Nadu tops India in electronics exports with $14.65 billion in FY25

Tamil Nadu has emerged as the leading state in electronics exports for FY25, clocking $14.65 billion in shipments and accounting for 41.3% of India’s total electronics exports, Industries Minister Dr TRB Rajaa announced.

This marks a significant jump from $9.56 billion in FY24, reflecting the state’s growing dominance in a sector vital to India’s manufacturing ambitions. Karnataka followed with $7.85 billion, contributing 22.09% to the national total. Together, the two states represented nearly 64% of the country’s electronics exports.

Dr Rajaa credited the surge to increased multinational investments and robust support from India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, particularly the Rs 250 billion initiative focused on manufacturing critical electronic components. The scheme aims to build a resilient domestic electronics ecosystem by boosting the production of batteries, displays, camera modules, and PCBs, thereby reducing import dependence.

He described the strong performance as a validation of Tamil Nadu’s strategy to move up the electronics value chain and cement its role in the global supply chain amid India's efforts to rival China in high-tech manufacturing.
