Servotech, Electra EV Patent Groundbreaking Low-Voltage EV Charging Device

Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd, in partnership with Electra EV, has been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for an innovative ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Device’. This new technology addresses the critical need for reliable and efficient charging solutions specifically for low-voltage electric vehicles, as India’s EV ecosystem expands rapidly.

The solution tackles a key interoperability challenge in the growing electric mobility sector, enabling fast DC charging for low-voltage EVs (sub-200V DC platforms), including those adhering to the GB/T Bharat DC 001 standards, using conventional high-voltage CCS2 charging infrastructure. This joint patent ownership is poised to accelerate the development of a next-generation EV charging ecosystem, benefiting both businesses and consumers.

With the growing adoption of low-voltage EVs, including small commercial vehicles and pick-up vans, the demand for flexible and compatible charging infrastructure has surged. Servotech’s patented device offers a practical solution by enabling safe, stable, and efficient charging for low-voltage EV batteries while ensuring compatibility with widely used fast-charging systems.

Arun Handa, Chief Technology Officer, Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd, commented, “Securing this patent is an important step in strengthening our innovation-led approach to EV charging technology. Low-voltage electric vehicles are key to India’s mobility ecosystem, particularly in small commercial fleets. This device ensures safe, efficient, and reliable charging for such vehicles, supporting EV adoption through improved charging compatibility.”

The technology features advanced power management and voltage conversion capabilities, facilitating safe energy transfer and optimal charging for low-voltage platforms. By enhancing charger interoperability and reliability, the device supports wider EV adoption, especially in segments crucial to India’s urban and last-mile mobility.
