He held a number of assignments in the State in different areas. Prior to joining Ministry of MSME, he was working in Govt. of Kerala as Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) and Agriculture Production Commissioner. Steps relating to micro planning based on agro- ecological units were initiated and six whole sale markets were brought on e-NAM Platform. Policy relating to FPO and agricultural exports from Kerala State were notified.

Earlier he has also worked as Secretary (Fisheries) and Principal Secretary (Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Zoo). He has worked as District Collector in two Districts namely: Wayanad and Kollam and at sub-divisional levels as Sub-Collector in different subdivisions (Trissur and Fort Cochin).

Dr. Ravi P. Singh is presently the Secretary General of Quality Council of India (QCI), an independent autonomous body of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. QCI’s mandate is to lead nationwide quality movement in India through its various boards like NABH, NABL, NABET, NABCB & NBQP. Besides, Dr. Singh also spearheads Special Projects Group within QCI where QCI emphasizes on adherence of quality standards in all spheres of activities primarily for promoting and ensuring quality of life.
