Solartron linear encoders work by counting pulses as graduations on a quart glass substrate move past a photo detector. The encoder family includes stroke lengths of 12, 25 and 50 mm, and accurate to 0.5 micron for the 12 and 25 mm or 1 micron for the 50 mm lengths across the entire measurement range.
