Departmental Server With 100 Mhz Processors Supports Up To One Gigabyte Of Memory

The Marixx SI MBus departmental server is configured with multiple 100 MHz hyperSPARC processors from ROSS Technology Inc, providing 11389 SPECrate_ fp92 and 9132 SPECrate_int92 performance in a quad processor configuration. The Marixx SI, a 100 per cent Sun compatible SPARC based system, is targeted at the departmental and workgroup server markel Powerful processing capability makes the SI a natural solution for database, engineering, and decision support applications. The SI's stackable enclosure includes a system board, two-gigabyte HDD, CD-ROM, DAT, and FDD; mounted on two slide out trays. Also included on the system board; are six SBus expansion slots, dual Ethernet ports, dual SCSI channels, 16-bit audio, ISDN, two parallel, and two serial ports. New options include stackable expansion enclosures with hot swap RAID storage and X terminals. The Marixx SI is based on the Sun Technology Business 50 MHz 64-bit MBus architecture and uses shrink wrapped Solaris 2.4 from SunSoft.
