Diesel Generator Set

Gujarat Forgings Ltd is specialised in the manufacture of high speed diesel engines, and diesel generating sets. The largest size is of 20 kVA, 3-phase, 415 V, 50 Hz, 0.8 power factor lagging, 16 kW diesel generator set. Tne genset is driven by Fieldmarshal brand twin-cylinder four-stroke, vertical, watercooled CI direct injection diesel engine with radiator producing 25 HP at 1,500 RPM. AC generators are manufactured and tested as per IS. 4722:1968 and diesel engines as per IS 10001. The AC generators are coupled to diesel engines with high quality flexible rubber couplings. The whole genset is mounted on a sturdy base plate. The prime mover based on a proven design is of sturdy and modular construction. It uses an efficient engine system and being a direct injection type, gives high fuel efficiency. At full load, diesel fuel consumption is 7.5 l/hour. A centrifugal type mechanical governor mounted on a camshaft gear controls engine speed variations to the required class of governing. Genset can be started by hand cranking and the standard rotation is clockwise from the flywheel side. The efficient cooling system with an engine-driven water-pump fan and radiator maintains the optimum temperature at all load conditions.
