Extensometer Mark III

The Extensometer Mark III is an apparatus that serves for measurement of deformation in extension of round and flat samples or test places in case of destination of yield point. Construction: two measuring bars are pressed against the test by means of clamps. Each of the measuring bars has two steel knife edges, the upper one of which is movable and thus, permits the adjustment of different lengths of measurement. The lower one is pivoted and acts on the measuring pin of a dial extensometer. Any deformation in extension of the test bar is, thus indicated on the dial extensiometer so that a change of length of 1/100 mm corresponds to a deflection of pointer of 2 mm. Technical data: least count – 0.01 mm; measuring range – 0.3 mm; gauge length of measurement – 30-120 mm; specimen dia/thickness – 1-25 mm; storage case size – 12 x 5 x 15 cm.
