The new IBS 24 RFC/486-DX/ETH-T remote field controllers by Phoenix Contact are compact industrial PCs for handling local MSR tasks in factories and buildings. They are employed where control performances by local switch box installed and networked PCs are required and where on-site visualisation is not (blind nodes). A high-performance microprocessor (PCCPU 486DX-100) quickly processes simple or complex MSR tasks written in compliance with the IEC 1131 programming standard. The integrated network Interbus and Ethernet links provide the required expansion and networking capacities along with the desired flexibility. The consistent configuration and programming of the remote field controllers is effected with the PC Worx automation software. The consistent networking of sensors, actuators and field devices is achieved with the open Interbus field standard. Up to 4096 I/O points can be coupled to one controller. The Ethernet connection using the TCP/IP protocol provides a direct link to the cell and control level. The integrated AUI interface (Attachment Unit Interface) offers universal connection capacities to all the customary Ethernet transfer media. Remote field controllers are used in various applications: from intelligent data concentrators in the collation of measured data to building controllers in the regulation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
